OSX Address Book & iOS Contacts

Adapting to iOS instead of Palm.

Not everything in the OS X Address Book translates to the iOS Contact App. There's no nickname, no job title, and none of the friends/relatives that I use so much.

More importantly, that backslash I used to designate folks who have passed over didn't work. That was probably the most critical. So I replaced "\deceased" with "•deceased" and that seems to have worked out well.

The note field in iOS Contacts doesn't have the severe size restriction that the classic Palm OS had. Of course Palm wasn't originally designed to really use contacts the way it should be used. That makes it easier to handle books and notable works without messing up the really important links up above. Here's a shot of my last update to Isaac Bonewits card.

You can see the generational data, my tags, and some of his notable works. If I used the book in one of my Amazon Listmania lists, I put which one and the description after the ISBN number. If it's an article on the web, I've got the HTML coding all ready to go.
